The SuperEnalotto has existed since 1997, the year in which it replaced the Enalotto, its predecessor. In  the beginning, the selection of the winning combination was quite complex, since it was based on the extraction of the first ball from each of the drum celebrated in the towns of Bari, Florence, Milan, Rome, Naples and Palermo.

That is to say, each of these towns made a lottery of their own, and the first ball that was extracted from each drum, was what made up the winning combination of SuperEnalotto. In the event that one of that balls had come out with the same number as other of the drums, this ball was replaced by the second, third, etc.
To complete the whole game, the first ball taken from the Venice drum and was given the category of Jolly, whilst to determine the Super Star, the first ball extracted from the national drum was selected.

All this complexity was simplified in 2009 with the new regulation, proceeding to retrieve  the balls directly from two unique drums. One of them contains the balls that will determine the combination of six  numbers, plus a seventh ball for the Jolly, and the other to extract the ball for the Super Star.

How does SuperEnalotto work?
